David presently holds the South African Research Chair in electromagnetics for the Square Kilometer Array at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Stellenbosch University. He has around 25 years of experience in computational electromagnetics. He started his career as research engineer at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Pretoria, South African in 1985, and joined Stellenbosch University in 1988, where he has worked since, other than various temporary sabbatical appointments at the University of Arizona, Cambridge University, Delft University of Technology and the University of Manchester. He has published extensively on the topic, and the 2nd edition of his textbook, Computational Electromagnetics for RF and Microwave Engineering, was recently published by Cambridge University Press. David has been the editor of the EM Programmer’s Notebook column in the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine for many years, and has also served as associate editor and guest editor for other journals. See his homepage for more details.
